As part of the activities organized by the BIONICA project, which is coordinated by MECHNIKOV and UNAN-Managua, the BIONICA Camp is held at UNAN-León, from October 26 to November 02. During that camp students from the Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacy faculties of both universities share their knowledge and experience in the field of biotechnology with fifth-year high school students from the National Institute “Benito Lacayo” in León.
According to the MSc. Sara Negaresh, Coordinator of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry course at the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, UNAN-Managua as an initiator of the project has provided support to students of UNAN-León so that they can carry out the activities programmed in the camp, «the first BIONICA course was held at our University with children of Plant workers and seeing the good results we thought of sharing this experience with the high school students here. The biotechnology promotion project is unique at the national level and we are proud to be able to share it” she said.
MECHNIKOV Director of Human Resources, Dr. Elena Kazakova, mentioned that «MECHNIKOV has played a key role in this project. The monitoring and accompaniment that has been provided, in addition to the establishment of work with the Universities, has allowed the possibility of obtaining good results that benefit students. We also intend to take it to other regions of the country».
During this course, high school students will have the opportunity to visit the facilities of UNAN-Managua and the vaccine Plant located in Managua, where it will be completed, and recognition of participation will be granted.
