BioNICA Concludes Training Week: MECHNIKOV, UNAN-Managua, and SPbSRIVS Open New Opportunities for Students

Seven students from UNAN-Managua completed a week of training as part of the BioNICA Project, a collaboration between the university, the Latin American Institute of Biotechnology (MECHNIKOV), and the Saint Petersburg Institute of Vaccines and Serums. This initiative aims to prepare young people in biotechnology and offer them postgraduate opportunities in Russia.

Professor Sara Negaresh, head of the Teaching Department of Chemistry at UNAN-Managua highlighted that five of the students will undertake a ten-month internship at MECHNIKOV, with the possibility of continuing their studies in Russia

"This is the ninth edition, and its goal is to guide young people interested in these topics towards the national biologics production industry, while also giving them the opportunity to apply for postgraduate scholarships in Russia," she has stated.

According to Stanislav Uiba, General Manager of MECHNIKOV, the project strengthens relations between Russia and Nicaragua, providing young people with career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry.

"These actions strengthen the cooperative relationship between the governments of Russia and Nicaragua; currently, there are fifteen people in Russia who will become part of MECHNIKOV's workforce,"Uiba stated.
